Your reason for studying abroad may be to improve your career options or seek new experiences

Do you want to live in a place with beautiful beaches, fantastic nature scenes, and thumping nightlife?

There are many international students at Australian universities. In fact, international students make up to 23.6% of on-campus students in the university sector in Australia.

The advantage is that you will have more diversified, global friendship opportunities. You will get along well with Australia’s friendly people if you speak English well.

If you’re hoping to live permanently in Australia after completing your course, students living in Sydney could be a stepping stone in making that dream a reality.

One of the significant benefits of studying in Australia is the migration incentive program run by the Australian government. If you comply with all the terms and conditions, you can apply for many long-term and permanent visas, including employer-sponsored and visas for skills needed as stated by the state government.

Given that, studying in Sydney is a good option for international graduates.

If you want to work overseas, you may choose the USA. However, once you graduate, work visas in the USA are heavily restricted. Australia has a much lower unemployment rate than either the USA or UK. It is easier to get a work visa and graduate with employment in Australia.

Lucie Towers from Insider Guides says Sydney has “more than 40% of Australia’s Top 500 companies, 90% of international banks, 60% of information and communication and technology companies, and 50% of professional service firms have their global or regional headquarters in Sydney”.

Many universities expect attendance for every class in the USA, and students must read every inch of set texts. In the UK, students are pointed in the right direction but then pretty much left to their own devices. Australia offers a good balance between lectures and smaller tutorials, group work, and individual exams and essays. They encourage independent thinking and hands-on experience.

Some of the country’s universities are future-focused, meaning you’ll be prepared for whatever comes next in your field of study. There are opportunities for fast employment, for example, universities that have shorter courses than other universities. A university degree from Australia can be used around the world.

Australia offers an Overseas Student Programme.

For this, you will need to show Confirmation of Enrolment at varsity and prove enough resources for study fees, living costs, and departure. You will also need a certificate to prove your skill in English. Then there are insurance requirements, including health insurance.

Australia is also considered one of the safest student destinations worldwide, with lower crime rates and strict gun controls.

The air is of good quality. The political system is stable. It is run by a Commonwealth (federal) Parliament and state parliaments with a Premier in each state.

Australia is urbanised, especially in Sydney. Australia’s population is mainly on the east coast because of the excellent weather. If you choose to live in Sydney’s student hot spots like Glebe, Petersham, Marrickville, Homebush, or Parramatta, you can save a bit of money on rent each week.

Public transport is good and reasonably priced in Australia, including buses, ferries, and trains, so you do not need a driver’s license.

You might need to cook unless the university gives you food. Eating out is usually expensive but buying fresh food is cheap.

Renting accommodation is expensive, but there are many great offers for students. From homestay programs, rental properties to hostels and off-campus accommodations, international students have many options.

Learn to swim so you can enjoy the summer. The temperature is getting hotter and the weather drier. If you can surf, that is even better.

The world’s largest coral reef, the Great Barrier Reef, is not far off the northeast coast and extends for over 2,000 km. While in Sydney, you can scuba dive at Clovelly Beach. Visit the various museums, the Sydney Opera House, and Sydney Harbour Bridge. Take the historical tours. Go to the markets, dance events, art exhibitions, festivals, or fireworks displays, usually do not have an entrance fee. The Royal Botanical Gardens has views of the waterfront.

Some famous Australian animals to note while studying there are the Kookaburra, the platypus and the echidna, plus, of course, the kangaroo, koala, and wombat, emu and the dingo (a type of dog).

Students who enjoy a busy lifestyle in an urbanised setting will like doing their tertiary studies in Sydney.
